I love reading your blog and hearing about...Claire,
I love reading your blog and hearing about your experiences abroad. You are doing something that very few people have the guts to do. Everyone seems to talk about the things they want to do or the ways in which they want to help others, but don't actually make the effort to do anything about it. You are unafraid to take that leap and it is incredibly refreshing. I'm so sorry to hear about how frustrating the soymilk cooperative has been. I won't even try to relate to your experiences with the cooperative or your life in Rwanda, because it would only trivialize what an amazing job you are doing. You are not a failure, you are one of the most driven and caring people I have ever known. Whatever steps you decide to take next, they will be the correct ones to take. Trust yourself and know that there are so many people supporting you and sending you prayers and well wishes. You are an inspiration.

ChristineChristine Skopecnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7496921101495994147.post-83556513585690412942013-03-11T12:14:45.281-05:002013-03-11T12:14:45.281-05:00Sorry to hear about all this, Claire. I'm sure having nobody there for the soymilk order on Friday must have felt a lot worse.

With my English club, though, it was always something that everyone knew about but nobody bothered to tell me. Once, there was a soccer game that everyone knew about weeks in advance, but nobody pointed out that this would interfere with the club. Then nobody came and I learned what was happening after the fact.

I'm not saying that there was some other event that drew people away on Friday. It could be anything. Just keep digging to find out what the obstacle really was.

Sometimes people won't tell you what's going on for completely irrational reasons, but if you can find out what's really going on, you have a better shot at making it work again.

Hang in there,
IanIan Rosshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09036326900098386231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7496921101495994147.post-45692045973602520482013-03-11T11:51:12.638-05:002013-03-11T11:51:12.638-05:00I really feel for you, Claire. You're working hard to bring change to a community that isn't used to drinking soymilk, let alone having this opportunity. It's going to take time, and you're going to have a bunch of obstacles to overcome (as you know, of course), but that doesn't mean you've failed. I hope the project continues, but even if it doesn't, you've given these women agency, and that leaves a lasting impact even if the soymilk project ends. You should be proud of yourself.Lauren Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10362782718322811555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7496921101495994147.post-6735065550966719452013-03-11T11:51:12.152-05:002013-03-11T11:51:12.152-05:00Sending so many prayers your way Claire. Clearly, you wouldn't have made it this far with the project if it wasn't going to do anything...there had to be a reason for all of it. Try and find the positives, and know that God has it all under control, even if we don't understand why what we think is best is not happening.
